Album Notes U2: Bono (vocals, guitar); The Edge (guitar, keyboards, background vocals); Adam Clayton (bass); Larry Mullen (drums).Additional personnel: Daniel Lanois (guitar); Brian Eno (keyboards). Recorded at Hansa Ton Studios, Berlin, Germany; Dog Town, S.T.S. and Windmill Lane Studios, Dublin, Ireland.A conscious reaction against "the myth of U2" (as guitarist The Edge put it), ACHTUNG, BABY was the result of two years work in Berlin and Dublin. Attempting to withdraw from the musical world and "re-invent" U2, the band secluded itself in studios, writing hours of material that was whittled down to 12 songs. The band's secrecy about the project aroused so much curiosity that early master tapes were stolen and bootlegged in Europe. ACHTUNG, BABY reflects the band's interest in differing musical sounds. The quasi-industrial opening to "Zoo Station" and the hip-hop influence in "Mysterious Ways," define U2 as a group of musicians determined to challenge themselves and their audience. Reviews Review created: 06/09/08 by: goodies4bubble ( 5 ) I have been a fan of U2 since I was 16 spanning 3 decades. I have been slowly updating my LP collection (not just U2) to CD and Achtung Baby was an album I had on my list. I was very pleased to finally get my hands on this album on CD. I love the fact that I can listen to it in the car now - it really cheers me up on the way to work! Review ID: 10000000008606385 Was this review helpful? Personally i think their best album is 'The Joshua Tree' followed by 'How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb'. If you are a collector of 'U2', i would also advise getting 'All That You Can't Leave Behind' because it has their newish good songs in it too. Achtung Baby has a lot of the older stuff from 'U2'. If you like their older music get 'The Joshua Tree', but if you like their newer music then defiantly get 'How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb'. Achtung baby is really an album for all you collectors of 'U2', like me. Achtung baby was made in 1991 and is a good album, but not the best from 'U2'. The most popular songs on the album are: One Even Better Than the Real Thing Zoo Station So if you wanted to see what music you may like on 'Achtung Baby', i would advise listening to these 3 songs. Thank You For reading. Review ID: 10000000007587683 Was this review helpful? Report this review I made a ridiculously low bid for a CD and was delighted to win it! After making the Payapl payment I was advised almost immediately by email that it had been sent by first class post the same day. Sure enough the next day, it turned up well packaged, immaculate throughout including the cover and book and played perfectly. Rarely these days do you get so much for so little. I have listed this ebayer as one of my favourites as this was a first class, hassle free, and friendly service! Keep up the good work. G Review ID: 10000000006803857 Was this review helpful?
