  great little netbook
Review created: 23/07/09

Great little net-book, I added 512Mb RAM and installed XP on it and it is perfect, I would not want more for travel. Battery time though was reduced from 3 hrs to 2 hrs because of the new (obviously more consuming) operating system, it is more economic with Linux... So need to think about it. I am perfectly satisfied.

Acer Aspire One with 120Gb disk, 8.9" screen, linux os
Review created: 10/03/09

What can I say? I originally bought one because my daughter needed a netbook as she was off to travel the world. When it arrived, it was clear that it was a terrific product. For the money, to have internet access, a webcam so that you can use skype, a cardreader to upload photos immediately from your camera, decent hard disk for storage of said photos, plus some videos to watch whilst travelling? Seemed so good that I bought another one for myself! Only possible down-side is that battery life with the standard battery isn't fantastic - around the 2 hour mark, so it's ok but not great (my macbook lasts a lot longer). You can buy longer-lasting batteries, but they're bigger and heavier which sort of takes away the whole point of this tiny device. Still, if you want my advice...go buy one!

  Little thing that can ...

This ULPC laptop is based around Linux operating system (you can buy Windows XP based version) which is very easy to use and quite functional. My wife had no problem operating it, browsing internet, playing games and using messenger. Device can play movie files, but it's lacking support for xvid and divX codecs.
If you're familiar with Linux you can easily add more software and functionality to it. Just look on internet for some tips. As a second laptop in home it's brilliant. Small, portable can work on battery for over 2h and it's very light.
I'm very happy with my purchase!
