Acer Aspire One AOA150 (AOA150-AB) Netbook

This is an excellent piece of kit! it is light fast and has ample storage.

The only negatives are the positioning of the mouse buttons and the linux which cam pre-installed.

As I disliked the pre-installed linux I quickly reinstalled it with Ubuntu, Windows XP and Mac OSX and all worked excellently.

The screen is clear and crisp, the camera is excellent as is the keyboard and mouse.

The only limiting factor with this laptop is the mouse button positioning which I just could not get used to and caused me to sell the unit to a colegue

This item is a great little travelling friend. It fits easily into a small bag, has a similarly small extension cable and is light making it the perfect companion for carrying around to various places and working on the move. Although it's smallness does come at a price; sometimes the buttons take some getting used to as they are very small especially for fat-fingered-folk, also the screen can sometimes be too small to scroll and although the pixel quality is fairly good it can still be hard to distinguish over a normal laptop. The storage space on the netbook is more than enough. With 200gb you can fit all your work files and programs such as XP and Office. However, don't expect to fit oceans of music and large games onto this device as the processing speed won't be able to cope. Although XP and Office can fit onto the device, devoid of a CD drive this becomes more complicated. The simplest solution is to get it preinstalled at the point of purchase from a retailer as a manual install using USB or download is respectively very time consuming and expensive. Overall, don't expect miracles from the netbook, but as an easily portable machine which serves all your basic computer needs it fits the bill perfectly.

Great little machine. Easy to use even though I've never used Linux before.
Would recommend it to almost anyone. Only drawback I've found so far is you need your glasses as the type face is very small but very clear.

I bought the 160Gb HD version with Linux, but immediately loaded up Windows 7 - which only takes a few minutes. All drivers were found, and it runs flawlessly.

Battery life is 2 - 3 hours, so I am considering a 9-cell upgrade, which will allow it to run all day.

I purchased this item because our old laptop had died -we had only used that when travelling, primarily for emailing and ebaying. The idea of a much smaller and lighter unit was very appealing and the Acer Aspire seemed to fill the bill and had come highly recommended in a 'comparison chart' in a computer magazine. The software is very simple especially for my wife and I, both in our 72rd year. It has wireless internet connection built in and switches on and connects very rapidly to the web - far faster than our home computer. The Acer One was easy to set up, has a friendly keyboard, excellent screen and graphics and we are totally delighted with it.
