Acer Aspire One AOA110-AB (LU.S030A.096) Netbook

I bought it as an ultra mobile pc for use on planes and trains, to save me lugging my normal laptop around. Alas it proved to be too small to be a practical alternative as the keyboard is just too much of a step down from a normal keyboard. Where it has proved to be a great success however is with my kids - they love it! Has (almost) stopped the rows about using the home pc and they love the portability of it. As the generic term for these machines bears out, very much used for surfing the net and, therefore, great for homework. Evry home should have one, or at least something like it.

This is a great little system for someone on the move that requires a mobile office.
The selection of software provided is great for the mobile worker with a full office suite, web browser, email client with calendar among the many applications pre-installed. The recovery method has also been optimised to make it as easy as possible and allows for recovery by cd or a usb flash drive.
The design and layout of the system is also what makes this a great system, the keyboard is big enough to type without hitting multiple keys at once (even with larger fingers), the screen is clear and bright with vibrent colours and make easy viewing. Connectivity to the internet is easy with wifi, lan and 3G usb dongles. If you are a linux person and want to expand possibilities of the system then you will grow to like this system even more as the native distro is
Fedora 8 running XFCE interface, but there are many other distros out there for the AAO. For more information on the distros available for it just do a few searches on the subject and be suprised.
The only downside to the system is lack of internal bluetooth and 3g. Internal bluetooth and 3G was not included even though the placeholder for the 3G can be found of the mainboad, but these can be added with a usb dongles if required.

I was told by a friend that the operating system was naf - however, I find it quite adequate and did not find it necessary to install Windows. It's light, compact, lovely looking, feels nice to use. Wireless very good - So far a very nice little machine. Also found it was very quick to get up to full charge! The two slots for SD card are brill as you can expand the memory so easily and transfer info easily. The linux system just takes a little getting used to - but as with everything - read the instruction manual and all will become clearer!

Boot-up speed good and enough applications ready-loaded for most purposes. Had to restore from USB DVD as second-hand netbook was not working properly but then worked well.

I bought this to give to one of my adult sons who spends a lot of time away from home during the week. When it arrived my wife, who has always hated using a laptop and would only use the desktop tried it and found it so light,fast and handy she commandeered it and I had to give my son one of my laptops along with a mobile broadband dongle. The Acer wireless connection is brilliant along with its Linpus OS very fast and puts my Dell Vostro to shame as well as the IBM Think Pad my son now has. It works easily with a 3G dongle and takes up so little room in a handbag. These netbooks are marvelous and not just for kids or the trendy, they should be issued to every one along with their bus pass.

You can't fault this laptop overall. It's small and really does the job. I would say bin linux and chuck Windows Xp on it though!!

it's small and light. I don't like the speed of the ssd drive as I was expecting something better. It was easy to change operative system. If I had to buy it new i would go for a model with large hard disk

absolutely love it!! i bought it because my grandson trod on my old one. i have no need for anything more. i am so used to the lightweight convenient size that i find my daughters laptop cumbersome.

it is very quick to load straightforward to use and
