I bought my 5003 as a repairable second user.
This model incorporates the very flexible Turion 64 bit chip which is capable of desktop processing. The limitation lies with all general purpose mid range laptops: HDD 4200-5400 spindle speeds; maximum 2gb RAM @ PC4200; the lack of ventilation & battery power only permits short term use @ full operation. To be rational laptops are only a convenient mobile office- beyond that it can not cope with heavy duty processing used in some CAD graphics, studio software and high end gaming. Multitasking is still a problem, although the dual-chip processors creates the next stage in laptop usability- overcome all the other short comings then the desktop is dead.
In the final summation I would say that the 5003 is very pretty; light to carry ,mobile machine that can be useful @ home, on the move or in the office. It incorporates a fair wireless capability and a battery capacity just over an hour. Its overall ability is lightweight in comparison to a properly built desktop computer of the same value.
Having said that I still like using it.
