ASUS Eee PC 901 (EEEPC901BK007X) Netbook

Good points:
1). Battery life - lasts for 8 hours due to six cell rather than 4 cell.
2). Solid state disk memory - very quiet and quick.
3). The price - I bought mine for £180 on Ebay.
4). The size and weight - this model weighs 1.1kg and it really is the size of a paperback book. Plus the mains cable has a small adaptor on it.

Bad points:
1). The in-built wireless does not seem to be very strong. Must be in the same room as the wireless access point to pick up a strong signal.
2). The keyboard keys are small.
3). The screen does not have fantastic definition.

Final point : be careful exactly which model you are buying. Go onto the Asus website and review the characteristics of each model as they vary considerably.

Its just what I need a small portable office for my work life! Very Compact and agile! Easy to use, great connectivity and great power and excellent battery life!

I bought a laptop from newandusedlaptops4u. Sadly it broke after I used it only twice (but I have heard that this item is 1st class when working). So I can not offer much advice about the product, but I can warn any potential buyers to avoid newandusedlaptops4u. These con-artists took my money and when I complained they requested I return the item (which cost me another £15.00 in P&P). They then returned the laptop to me a week later still broken. I once again phoned them, and was asked to return it for a second time – Which I did, costing me another £15.00 P&P. Since then I can not get a reply to any of my emails and the number listed on eBay no longer works! Since I paid for the item by cheque, eBay cannot give me a refund and are of no use whatsoever... Be warned newandusedlaptops4u claims to be a business, but are nothing more than con-artists!

Small and fast for a netbook (Windows XP). Internet access good. Mouse addes for ease of navigating. Keyboard difficult to use. I bought an additional 32gb SSD, now I have a very good Netbook.

Superb mini laptop for travel. It's very small and light, but the screen is fine, and the keyboard OK for people with normal hands. Not for those with sausages for fingers.

Obviously not as convenient as a normal-sized laptop for serious work, but great when on the road or in the air for keeping up with email, browsing the net, doing some work (WP and spreadsheets), and storing photos.

The Linux version is better if you are happy with the supplied software (which is great, and perfect for most people), but if you NEED something else, you will also have to spend some time learning how Linux works - or get a pointy-headed friend to do it for you.

It's a wonderful tool for photographers, but you will need to spend a little bit more to get a USB external drive. There are plenty of Ebay for around £30.00.

The Open Office software which is included will load and save MS Word and Excel files, so you don't need Windows or MS Office.

The 901 has Bluetooth and a better battery, but costs quite a bit more - if you can find it.

great little netbook with great battery life. bought it to watch movies and browse the web on the move.get about 4 - 5 hours of battery with normal use .please remeber this is only a netbook so dont expect to run big programs with it apart from that its a very good netbook .
