ASUS Eee PC 2G Surf (EEEPC2GSurf-BK) PC Notebook

I wipe XANTOS (the Linux derivative supplied) and installed XP SP3.

Even my wife, who's very skeptical of my gadgets, was very impressed.

I'm taking it on holiday (in my hand-luggage - 0.9Kg!) to use to transfer video and photos from our digical cameras direct to my iPod & USB toughdrive.

10x8Gb SD card = £180. EEEPC = £130 inc p&p, so can use the 80Gb iPod as a disk. No brainer really.

The power adaptor is UK with USA underneath, so no travel adaptor required!

Startup is brilliant - the main drawback is the lack of C: capacity. If C: and D: were 16gb each it would score 95%. The only other problem is that the USB2 drives register as USB 1.1 on all applications I have used - if this could also be solved it would be 100%.

this asus is perfect for the everyday use of a laptop i.e. ebay ,internet search workbooks etc ideal for the first timer as well as the professtional. easy to carry about no big cases needed just put into handbag the size is great for the larger fashionablehandbags being used today.

There is nothing to dislike about this really cute little thing.

With a screen size of only 7 inches, it's very compact and the price is kept low by the exclusion of a Microsoft operating system and Office suite. Instead, the Asus runs Linux and Open Office.

The Eee PC boots up in a mere 30 seconds and instantly detected all of the wireless networks available in the area. Connecting to our Virgin cable broadband was easy and now the Asus connects upon boot up by default.

The Eee PC has limited RAM (512MB) and a small hard drive (2GB) but this is irrelevant as it is a net book and it's main use is web browsing. Any documents one writes can be stored online at Google docs for example.

We've found other uses for the Eee PC as well: it's portability and wireless connection mean that we can carry it around the house and listen to listen again radio in any room, for example. We can also hook it up to the hi-fi as an internet radio. The Asus' portability also means that it can be carried around, outside, on business etc. in any small bag: no need for a heavy full blown laptop and bag.

Running a small business as we do, my wife and I find it very useful having a second PC so that we can work simultaneously.

To sum up, a great little all-round mini PC. We're thinking of buying a second so that we both have one.

This is just perfect for your childs first laptop!!! I am a TA at a secondary school and we use these within school which is why i decided to get my daughter one. Small enough to carry about yet enough memory to work on and wifi too. A really smart little gadget!!!!

This netbook is perfect. when buying s netbook a buyer has certain criteria to meet. for a netbook these for me where: small, lightweight, solid state hard drive and asus.

i thought should i get a powerful processor, lots of RAM or a large hard drive. the answer was no purely as i already have a very powerful 17" laptop. my laptop is great for portability around the house etc but not for public transport.

i thought to myself what would i use the laptop for..... just to carry around in my handbag to do work on the bus and train as well as the coffee shop.

after putting all these thoughts together i decided found this netbook.

it has a 2GB solid state hard drive which is ample to hold an operating system; a data stick will be used for all my data needs. the solid state also means any knocks or bangs is less likely to damage the hard drive.

it has 512MB of RAM which can easily be upgraded however, to run lines is ample.

the intel processor is very small however i would only need to do one task at once on the netbook which it is capable of doing. i have been rather surprised to find it even manages to have the Internet up as well as a word processor at
the same time.

this netbook even comes with a built in microphone which is great for making voice calls over the Internet.

it is small cute light and white, a perfect traveling netbook!

This is bottom of the range Eeepc, small but very handy when traveling. The original Linux operating system was not to my taste though I use only Linux systems myself. The answer to this was to buy a memory card on Ebay and install Puppee Linux to it, this is a version of the Puppy Linux operating system and works really well on this machine. I can now choose either operating system.
The battery that came with it only gave about two hours use when on the internet so I bought a high power battery from an Ebay member in China. This was the best thing I ever bought, it gives me four to five hours of constant internet use and I think about seven hours when word processing, (it just seems to go on forever so I am not sure how long).
Though I had to add these couple of bits and the graphics card is a bit basic I am really pleased with this machine and it's wireless internet capabilities are brilliant.

small light compact laptop Great to take where ever i go and has built in wifi there isnt anything i can say bad about this laptop as it just does not have a cd drive but who needs cds when we have meomory sticks and that nowadays

there were a lot of models of the asus ee laptop on ebay, i went for this one as the seller seems to be an honest person, and someone looking to make a large profit!..seller responded within 24 hrs to a question i had and that led me to buy it.

its fantastic to have when going abroad or for a buisness man who is always on the go.
the memory on it isn't high because of it being a web surfer (which is expected).
although having main features like 4+ usb ports, headphone jacks,SD reader, skype, firefox, antivirus, messenger...all you need i personally think.
