So I ummed and ahhed for some time about buying the PS3. Why?
1. Don't have enough time to play Games (full time teacher and Dad to be)
2. Heard it was very noisy (untrue!)
3. Did I really need it?
I have to say since owning it now for some time, it really is a truly remarkable piece of kit. Why?
1. The Blu Ray is fantastic. - Just make sure you buy the Blu Ray remote as it's difficult to convince your other half you haven't just bought a games console when operating the Blu Ray with a joystick! That's £200 saved on buying a decent Blu Ray player then (stand alone players don't upgrade themselves either unlike the PS3).
2. It has integrated wireless so no wires which is dead easy to set up. Make sure you have your WEP handy
3. There is a full media server inside so you can browse all your photos, music, videos via your router and which ever other computers you have in the house. Very important for justifying it to the wife when the wedding pics come up in all their glory on your flatscreen.
4. Use it as a DVD player and it automatically upscales the DVD to make them look even better.
5. It has a good Internet Browser built in and the BBC are shortly bringing the iPlayer to PS3.
6. It is constantly being updated and improved via tried and tested over the air updates.
7. It looks fantastic. All black and shiny like the monoliths from 2001 a Space Odyssey.
8. Noise? What noise?? A barely audible slight, very distant hum on occasion. The XBox360 Elite sounds like one of those small portable vacuum cleaners and is really annoying in comparison.
9. It offers full 1080p playback via my Panasonic flatscreen and looks incredible as a result.
10. The Play TV add on turns it into a full on Personal Video Recorder with upscaling. That's another £150 saved then.
11. Oh -the games. Fantastic. Little Big Planet is beautiful, FIFA '09 is better than watching Spurs (not really an endorsement to buy I suppose :-)) and who needs Lara when you've got Uncharted: Drake's Fortune.
12. If 80GB isn't bug enough then... Google PS3 Hard Drive Upgrade. Undo 6 Philips screws, slide out the old Hard Drive and insert a 320GB Notebook one for £60 from Amazon. Now you can back up everything and all those dodgy 80's Student videos you ripped from VHS to DVD!
13. PlayStation Network is improving and is Free. The new Home is just round the corner... downloadable films etc.. social networking etc..etc..
So buy yourself a PS3 and watch it develop into your all in one entertainment centre!

I thought i was too old for games, last console i had was playstation 1 bought for me ust over a decade by mummy back at the age of 13, over the years ive regulary had a burst on playstation 2/xbox+xbox360/dreamcast/gamecube and so on.
but since i touched ps3 i knew i was going to get one.. i have scoured the net for a cheap 40gb until i realised that the added benifits of the now discontinued 60gb was worth the 60-80 pound top up in price.
the 60gb model is backward compatible so classic ps1 and ps2 discs work a treat
plus it comes with a memory bay that reads flash memory sd cards and pro duo cards again great for music and film.
i can get full movies (divx/mp4 etc) off the net and play them straight off the flash usb memory on the tv.
blueray discs are beautiful to watch on hd tv with a hdmi cable
i can plug my ipod directly to ps3 via usb and save tunes
the 100% free online gaming is addictive experience, GTA4 deathmatches has left me waking up late for work
the wireless net capabilities are handy too.. ps3 has a built in web browser, it doesnt have the ease of a pc. but definatley does its job, (streams youtube videos like a dream) and with the likes of bbc.com claiming they are soon to make the iplayer ps3 browser compatible, my home entertainment is going from strength to strength. so if all the above interests you id suggest get a ps3, and if the added 60gb model capabilitys tickle you id recommend payin the litte extra, there is always a deal to be had on ebay and the fact i got 2wireless controllers 6 games in the bundle justified the price i paid, the games are quality too pro evo 2008 is slick gta 4 is an immense game with so much depth and detail. ive had it for almost 2weeks and i havent even tried the other games the two mentioned are that good

On the plus side it is miles better than the PS2 my sons currently have.My eldest son reports that the PS2 games play better on the PS3 box.The fact that my sons have a large collection of PS2 games,its a bonus that they play on the PS3.It means that they have to buy a load of PS3 games immediately.
Nn the minus side,I thought I had purchased a duff unit.When I plugged it into my son's television using the AV cable,I got only the sound.I then plugged it into the 42" lcd television in the lounge using the HDMI cable and only got visual display with no sound.I spent 30 minutes mesing around with the settings before I had both sound and vision working through the HDMI cable.I then set the PS3 up to work through the AV on the 42" televison.Once I was satisfiedit was working OK,I then connected it up to my son's televison and it works fine

What do I like?
The PS3 is quite simply the best console on the market. I had heard so much about its different applications and was dying to give it a bash. Leaving its sleek cool design aside this console is a beast and chews up all the new titles on the market. For though games are nice but the main reason i bought a PS3 is for media streaming.
I have a powerline LAN setup at home (200mb HD), I added the PS3 to the domain and within seconds I had all my movies, music and photos streaming to my TV. Whats more the PS3 has an optical out for surround sound systems. So it was a breez adding it to my home theatre system for an amazing 5.1 digital experience.
Some people complain the PS3 doesn't stream all media, but with the right codecs on your PC and TVersity setup you'll be able to play everything including MKV files. I used a MKV2VOB file converter which gives me full 1080p vob file that has full DTS 5.1 audio. It is also sooo easy to upgrade the internal hard drive to a max of 500gig simply pop it out (release lever) and slot in the new drive, the PS3 then does the rest automatically.
Put simply the PS3 is the perfect addition to your home media setup. Its the best purchase I've ever made and would highly recommend it to anyone.
One other point is the PS3 60g is pitched at being the rare model that everyone should want/need. It has sd card readers on the front and an extra 2 USB ports as well as the ability to play Ps1/2 games. If you want to use older games you can but as for the rest there's no difference between any of the other models. So dont get duped into buying the rare model if you have no intention of playing older games on it.
All in all buy it you wont regret it.

I recently broke my previous ps2 that I had and have always loved the playstation games consoles. However, when the latest verison of the playstation was launched I was rather sceptical mainly due to the cost. Although, these sceptisisms quickly became a distant memory once i had a chance to play on a friends console. It was amazing the new generation of gaming - and soon i was determined that I would purchase one. Due to now not having to play any of my previous playstation games I decided to get the 60gb version which is no longer sold, as it is ps2 compatible unlike the 40gb version. This was the reason for the purchase via ebay and managed to get a great deal that I would never have been able to get in any shop. There are some fantastic games avaiable now. One of the main features that I like is the fact that you can connect to the media servers on your home computers/laptops to listen and watch any movies that you may already have through your ps3 console. Great buy recommended to anyone who wants the ultimate gaming experience.

) if you ever are considering buyind a game console then look no further than a ps3 it has a remarkable blu ray drive to watch films on, seperately a blu ray drive will set you back at least £300 its bluetooth compatiable and also wireless unlike the xbox 360 which you have to buy all seperate. fantastic graphics i would give a ps3 100/100 on all counts of gaming even the games are sort off cheap.!!!

PS3 60gb ReviewDecided to buy as good feedback and was good price for the model i was after, and the 120 day warranty on offer. Item works great can play ps1,2 games as stated. However not entirely perfect condition as was white paint on the power cable and the three scart socket cables were seperated slightly. Also there is a slight crack on the front of the console. However these are very minor details, as the item works great, i am satisfied with it and i would buy from the seller again.
In addition to this feedback was delayed due to purchasing a controller to ensure the console was working fully.

ps3 console with gamesjust got the ps3 console today and what can i say apart from brillient. thankyou for sending it on time. now i just need to get used to how to play the games - if i get time as i got five games to with it many thanks

ps360gbi bought it because i wanted on and i got it reasonable price and i liked it i got four games with it the ps3 and the games work well
