The E1 is the first serious 4/3 camera that Olympus produced and even though it is only around 5Mp it can still take really good photos that can be enlarged to A3 as its not all about Mp but lens and CCD quality as well. The E1 is good to hold and use and can form the basis of a first class system especially now they can be bought in mint condition - like mine - for between £250 to £300 (body only)from Ebay. I would recomend one of these to anyone and if you already have one i'd keep it!!

  Olympus E-1 and 14-54 and FL20

The E-1 is what all my previous digitals should have been; I love it. It does what I tell it without offering silly user modes this user never uses. It's beautifully built and handles superbly. If I could add one thing it would be a swivelling screen. I used that a lot on other cameras. Don't let anyone tell you that 5Mp isn't enough - it's what you do with them that counts.

The FL20 is an ideal pocketable alternative to the rather naff built-in flashes on other bodies. It's not awfully powerful but is adequate for fill-in and so on.

The 14-54 is the perfect standard lens for me, as I spent years using a 28-105 on film. The only disadvantage I've found is that I've now started looking for extra lenses again; I thought I'd got over that . . .

Later on I must add that the E-1 proved a disappointment in that it had a body fault which would cost more to repair than the camera was worth. If buying used, therefore, check every function or get a warranty. It gets 5/5 when it's fully operational!

Very easy to use right from the start and superb quality pics, far better than any compacts. Having purchased the 4/3 adapter i can now use the collection of lenses from my OM1 that i have had lying around unused for ten years.

  Olympus E1 DSLR

In part I can only echo what others have said in earlier reviews regarding build and image quality of this DSLR. The build is excellent, solid and well finished with the majority of buttons being exactly where you would want them. It all seems to me to be very intuative. Shutter actuations are quiet with a lovely "engineered" sound to them. The real issue though is of course image quality. I have to say the images I have produced so far have been (leaving my shortcomings as a photographer aside) superb. Colour rendition is up there with the very best and the level of detail captured with a good lens in adequate lighting conditions is terrific. On paper this camera is limited by its low pixel count, in reality this is simply not an issue. I came to this camera from an E520, in itself a very nice bit of kit. I would be surprised if I went back to using the E520 as my main camera body. The battery grip simply enhances the use of the camera, balancing it very well and enabling you to shoot for very long periods. Overall the E1 is an absolute stunner.

  PERFECT!!!

Having converted most of my old video collection to DVD I was thrilled to find this film gem in digital format. If you watch this in widescreen format, it really does the battle scene great justice; coupled with surround sound, you'll be gripped by the amazing cinematography. I would recommend the director's cut that includes scenes about the relationship between the lead character and his estranged wife and helps you to understand the motivation behind his decision. The run time is 183 minutes for the directors cut and 120 minutes for the cinema version. I was, however, disappointed by the lack of extras, which any fan of this classic would expect to be included.
