I first saw the pilot for this show and loved it, which resulted in me purchasing the full series one on DVD. It's very much a cross between the X-files and Roswell. A number of people, 4400 people to be exact go missing over a number of years (1950's - 2005) then suddenly reappear one evening in 2005 in a suspected meteorite, which is actually a spaceship. After six weeks confinement by the American Government the abducted people are released back into the community to continue their lives. Difficulties ensue as the abducted people have not aged at all since their disappearance years ago. Many find loved ones dead or re-married. The Government become very interested in the abductees because some of them seem to have attained special powers, such as physic ability or the power to heal. This series is easy to watch and hugely enjoyable. After watching the final episode my sister and I have been searching the Internet for a second series for a year and a half. I looked it up on the off chance it would be sold on ebay and to my surprise it was. I'm now embarking on series two!! It's handy to ask sellers what the picture and sound quality is like as I have bid and won a few DVDs that were awful and made poor viewing. Many sellers own a number of each DVD so remember to contact them if you don't win a bid as they may be able to sell you another.

I love all things sci-fi (well apart from the real hard-core Star Trek spin-off shows where actors playing aliens wear prosthetic foreheads) so I thought I'd check out the 4400 which has a promising concept. 4400 people who have disappeared gradually throughout history all of a sudden get dumped back by some sort of alien craft at a lakeside in north-west America with no idea of what has happened to them in the interim. The series follows some of the 'returnees' who seem to have developed their own special, superhuman gift. The production values are quite good, the acting and scripts are adequate enough, it's all quite American and cheesy but in a good way, if you like that sort of thing. I found it thoroughly entertaining and non-taxing, perfect for curling up to in the evening with a glass of wine.

The 4400 is reminiscent of the X files from the 90's but having now seen season 1 the X files is far superior. The pilot of the 4400 lasts a little over an hour and then the 4 following episodes don't really go on to explain a great deal. It's entertaining enough and there is a great deal of opportunity to keep the series going for years, but compare the 4400 with say, The Sopranos or Lost which rightly deserve 5 stars the 4400 in my opinion at best deserves 3. I dont think i will buy season 2 and as Lost 3 is now on Sky i dont think i will miss the 4400, shame it was a good concept.

The 4400 is a brilliant programme, based on the premise that 4400 people, who disappeared over the last few decades, presumably abducted by aliens, suddenly return and have to re-integrate into society.
Even though the script has a couple of lapses here and there, the underlying story is brilliant and captivating.

When 4400 alien abductees return to earth just as mysteriously as they vanished, the Department of Homeland Security demands answers. But even more pressing than the concerns of the government are the experiences of the 4400 victims as they readjust to life on earth. Upon their return, these formerly missing persons lose all memory of what happened to them. Though they can't remember where they've been, they are haunted by the knowledge that their experiences have changed them. Operating in a cloud of unknowns, the victims start to go through mysterious changes, gaining powers that they can't always control.

The 4400 Series 1 DVDBrilliant TV show, vastly under-rated. If you're a fan of The X-Files, Lost, Heroes, etc then you'll like this show. Great storylines and character development, but the show only runs for 4 series then ends on a cliffhanger so we don't get to find out what happens!
Only negative is......there are some ridiculous elements to some storylines, but hey, thats to be expected in a sci-fi series!

I loved the concept of people being abducted and then returned to save the world. I am intrigued to find out how this is to happen and how the future people know what a returnee will do and thus how it can effect reality.
I have just finished series one and am waiting for 2. they are very short series but I suppose that keeps it fresh.
The cost of all four series is only a little more than cost of just one series of another dramsa so I suppose cost effecive
There wasn't anything that I can think of that I disliked and am looking forward to seeing the rest
what has me curios is how shawn will effec things as he was not the intended abductee and will kyle be possesed again at times to communicate and will the world believe that the returnees are there to help?
the main characters have already realised pre kyle that the returnees actions are having a positive reaction and it would be good to see how they react to possible world destruction?

) If you have never heard of it and like a little sci-fi mixed with every day life and several story lines mixing into one,then you will like this If you have seen dead like me ? or Eureka ,Heroes then you are on the same wavelength ,You find yourself thinking well whats coming next,and you will find yourself watching it more than once and asking yourself why you missed certain parts the first time.Remember pay attention Oh and if you feel like a read try Hitchikers guide to the galaxy not the film the books a trilogy of 5 ?

At separate times over the past 60 years 4400 people have mysteriously disappeared. No-one connects them. The Earth is then threatened by a big asteriod, despite all our nuclear blasts at it it zooms towards earth threatening to blast us to smitherines. But last minute it puts the breaks on and stops by a lakeside, theres a puff of smoke and out come all 4400 people in their original clothes, they haven't aged a day and do not remember a thing.
Some of them have come back with a gift or ability, e.g can read minds, heal people or switch lights on/off at will etc
Each episode follows the two agents on the 4400 case trying to find answers and one of the 4400's transition back into society. Some 4400's are trouble causes, some killers and some just dont know how to handle their abilities. There are also several main characters that are in every episode too.
Its a good storyline but they stretch it out a bit, you have to keep watching because you want to know what happens, it twists and turns and there a few surprises but its enjoyable enough, easy watching.
You are likely to enjoy this if you are a fan of X files,Star trek next generation, Medium......etc

the 4400 series 1Very strange. This show is a must have for any sci-fi fan or anyone that doesn't have sky or cable. One to watch and collect. Twilight zone for the next gerneration. This show gets better and better with every episode. It makes you think and keeps you interested in all the characters unlike other american sci-fi shows. The twist and turns are well written and thought out.

Good sci-fi series, bit slow and drawn out. If you've enjoyed X files or Taken this is for you.
Good points: family safe with no real sexual or violent scenes, well acted characters giving a tense story plot.
Bad Points :For me 4400 people arriving from space without aging should realistically have caused a lot more panic and somethings are accepted far to easily

Review - The 4400 - Series OneWhen this was first released on TV I saw the adverts and wanted to watch it, however I missed it and decided to buy it on DVD. Although the series did not create much hype, I was suprised. It starts quite slow but still manages to keep you wanting to continue watching.
The last episode is brilliant and leaves you wanting to buy the next series.

it is a very gripping thriller, the first episode is soo good and seems to go on for hours! the only thing that lets it down is the fact that there are only five episodes which i found starnge as its usually at least 12, i think the makers didnt think it would be as successful as it was but three series have been made since so it has longevity. i think the 4400 was groundbreaking as there wasnt anything like this before it was made plus if you watch it i think that the makers of lost and heroes found inspiration with how the 4400 is written as the theme is kind of the same. so if you like lost and hearoes definatly watch this, it is kind of like a tv version of close encounters so if you liked that film definatley watch this!

This series took me totally by surprise. I'd caught about 2 episodes while channel surfing but til i'd watched them in order on dvd did it truly grab me. Think X-files with a good measure of the Outer limits thrown in and Heroes for seasoning. There are always plot twists with questions with only few answers and some answers you truly never saw coming amazing powers or not. Has got me hooked and 3 seasons later with some questions answered i'm still hungry for more. Is so good my friends seem to be always borrowing them. What better recomendation can you have than that?

When 4400 people who went missing over the past 50 years turn up in one spot, people start to get scared. And rightly so. The 4400 is a cross breed between the likes of the X-Files and Roswell, but betters them both!
If you haven't already bought it, you'd be a fool not too. This is certainly one that nobody should miss!

The 4400 Season 1 DVD was recommended to me by my brother.
Back in the day we were both quite into the X-Files and followed it religiously.
He told me that it was like 'the X-Files for a new generation' and basically said its about 4400 people that have disappeared over the last 100 years or so, believed to be dead. Then one day, they all appear (together) on a beach completly as they were on the day they got taken. No memory of the event, no knowledge of their ordeal and no idea where they've been! Aliens, right?
It soon becomes very clear that their presence will completly effect the human race in ways knowone ever thought possible.
Its been out a couple years now and is at a very affordable price.
Running time is about 247 mins (just over 4 hrs) So not stupidly long.
And the best part is that, if you like it (which you will) there's a Season 2 & Season 3! Both are 4 discs and keep getting better with new abilities surfacing and unforeseen sory plots being revealed.
THE ORIGINAL CONCEPT TO HEROES!
Heroes is good too.

If Xfiles was your thing, you should love this the acting is a tad wooden but it really was feeling its way. it certainly wet your taste buds for more. the next series. that are far better....
The Extras are pretty naff and lack of episodes means it rather short. BUt if one ties in nicely while easily watched independently

The 4400 Season One (2005)I thouroughly enjoyed this series when it was first played on sky and had been keeping an eye out for a copy for a while. The advertisement suggests it is the 'new X-Files' but i think this is a very unique production. There is a simple concept that works and leaves a lot of scope for the preceeding series, of which there are already two! The first two episodes are a little dry but it soon picks up pace once the main characters are introduced and leaves you wanting more!
The artwork on the box is also quite clever and makes for quite an attractive purchase!
