I bought this cd as a gift for my father. He is a huge soul/motown fan and he had never heard of this album before.
The great thing about this cd is that it isn't like the normal soul cds that have nearly all the same songs. This features many old classics that aren't heard much anymore.
The downside (in my opinion) is the newer songs: 1970-1975 which hold nothing to the 60's classics.
Great ablum overall though.

Platinum Soul Legends
) I bought this cd after listening to a friends copy during a car journey/ weekend away. I tried to get my own copy via Amazon who despite accepting my funds and order could not deliver. It was my first experience of E-bay and has me now as a regular user. I find E-bay, easy to use and would recommend it to friends. Many thanks to the seller as the quality of the cd was excellent.

Platinum Soul LegendsA good general overview. It's a bit short on the early classics: no Sam Cooke (!), no (solo) William Bell, and only the mega pop hit (Dock of the Bay) from Otis Redding for example.
If some of the less distinctive later tracks made way for these, then this would be a 5-star album. But at this price, it's still irreseistible. So buy this and then buy "Otis Blue", a good Sam Cooke compilation, or just his "Mr Soul", and some William Bell and maybe a bit more Steve Cropper. Then you'll be home and dry!
