Bend It Like Beckham (DVD 2002)
Bend It Like Beckham is an excellent film, and I particularly like the way the producers have taken two completely different cultures, and brought them both together using their common love of football. Two girls, from completely opposite backgrounds both want to play football, but families object to it. The comedy side of the film is amazing, especially the way Jesses mom obsesses over cooking Aloo Gobi, and how Jules's mom thinks her daughter is a lesbian! Another great moment in the film is when all the indian family meets for a religious occasion, and everybody's mobiles go off at the same time. I think the best part is the ending, when both families let their daughters fly off to America to play football, and I think it's lovely the awy Jules remains friends with Jess the whole way through the film, and the team support her, and try to help her fit football around her family life.
