I think this is a bit of a man's film, for god's sake don't sit down to watch it with the wife and kids. You'll see more kills in this film than the next 300 you might watch, not to mention the serious maiming !
This true story centres on a crack army of 300 Spartans facing a huge Persian force, the Spartans gather in a small pass so their enemy can only advance a few at a time and boy they can work a sword !
I know this is over dramatised and although this did happen it didn't happen quite like this but that aside this Greek version of Zulu will not disappoint.

Epic Movie, Already a Classic; But...5 of 6 people found this review helpful.
From the maker of Sin City, Frank Miller has created yet another epic movie. 300 is based on the 300 Spartan soldiers that fought the persians in the battle of thermopylae in 380bc. The movie is visually stunning and has an ok storyline, although it is not completely correct and features mythical creatures and monsters it is still a gripping movie from start to end. Especially if you like war movies such as Gladiator and Troy etc then you will love this movie. It is already a classic. If you have already seen this movie and you liked it then you will most likely have it. If you havent seen it yet then what are you waiting for buy it! I cant give it 5 stars that many people reccomend. Simply because the story isnt really that good, it is good but not excellent, once youve watched it once youve really seen it a thousand times, it can get quite boring if youve seen it 20 times. Still, it is visually stunning, has a great cast and setting, and the brutality of the movie is awesome. Thanks for reading hope it hepled - 4Stars **** kierans93

I bought this dvd because my local dvd library closed down,So I turned to ebay to buy it,Its a good film it shows the early years of a spartan warrior.very graphic battle scenes,It was,a little camp,The persian leader would not look out of place in a elton john party.But a film you cannot walk away from.

I loved every thing about this film, how it was filmed, the stunning fight scenes, the story, and the perfect abs!!!!!!!!!!! on the brave 300 men!!!!!!!!!!!! i would reccomend this to any one who likes an action packed fantasy film.

What can a say, a REAL MANS MOVIE. Its what real man are all about. Its got action, adventure and most importantly BRAVELY... The movie is amazing. Great special effects and stunts. Action is immennce and actors give power house perfrmances. The film as a whole is intense and brilliantly written. I was lucky enough to get the 2 disc dvd for an extrmely low price.

The realization of Frank Millar's graphic novel was brought to life on perfectly in this movie. I liked 300 because it was simple no complications and to the point. If you know your history, you know how it's going to end so all that is left is for you to see how they bring the story to life. It's not the most accurate historically who cares it's 300 men in leather Y fronts. It's not a long film as you can't do a lot with 3 days of battle as there is only so much fighting one can take. So there are specific fight scenes that are focused on so as not to lose you in all the blood shed as must epic battle scenes tend to do in movies. It's not a movie to be taken too seriously but is definately watchable. I both this film as I have watched it before and I am a Gerard Butler fan.

I'm into stuff like Conn Iggulden, Simon Scarrow, I,Claudius, Rome as well as Sin City, so you'd think that a film that was a mixture of both would either be nirvana or purgatory- its neither. It is good solid film, if you share any of my taste you are unlikely to be disapointed, but also unlikely to think it greatest film ever. The sight of hordes of enemies charging at you, whilst the few stand their ground, is an impressive display of resillience that you must surely admire, yet '300' isnt as bloody as some make out- sure there is blood & some images but its a film with a battle at its heart, I didnt feel it overly done. There is more to the film than this, I would rate this 4+ stars, definitely worth a watch. (History/fact lovers should check out the 2 disc version)

This is one film that tells you the history of how 300 spartans fights for their rights to have freedom. I was never the sort of person that would/could watch and learn history, but the story is so fascinating, telling the world about history that the persians never thought at any point it would make the history because of the small amount of people. HOW WRONG WERE THEY!
Film is definately worth watching over and over again, and if you've been lucky to get the two discs version, the extra disc doesn't only tell you about the making of the film, it also tells you more detailed story about this "war".

If you like comics you will love the stylised scenes within some breathtaking cinematography. The story is 'overcooked' but the result is even more inspiring than the tale of the sacrifice of the 300 Spartans.

300 - SpartaExcellent action film, although probably not one for the whole family. Quite a bit of gore but not overly offensive.

Got it for hubbys birthday. He was totally in awe of the graphics and the overall story of the dvd. He played it through his PS3 so the definition was intensified again.
