3:10 To Yuma (DVD)

Why oh why do the studios keep remaking brilliant films and coming up with disappointments - instead of writing their own stuff? Although it's good to see a great Western this one certainly isn't. The outlaw leader looks more petulant and cocky than threatening and the ending is totally out of keeping with his earlier behaviour - and nonsensical, too. But the extra feature on the Old West is well worth a look.

And they said the Western was dead! This remake of the classic 50s film is a gripping account of the uneasy relationship between a family man and a bandit - thrown together as the rancher and his son are left to get the bad man on the train to prison and hanging. They learn to respect each other - the outlaw perhaps envying the rancher's family. Lots of action and high tension lead to the unforgettable climax. Well worth watching - one of the best films I've seen this year.

i like cowboy movies,i had seen the earlier version but i decided to buy this to see what it was like,it was very good,some excellent acting and the guy who was the rancher,who needed money for his farm and family,also he had been injured during the civil war.he played a blinder, a great movie to watch..

I like any western providing it has a good story. I do not dislike any part of the film. I bought it because i saw it advertised, and knew i had to get it.
I rate this as an excellent film in the same catagory as spaghetti westerns.

Great dvd, upto date cowboy film with some great actors such as Russell Crowe and Christian Bale.This was a great gift for my Dad!

Starring Christian Bale as the Sheriff and Russell Crowe as the likeable outlaw with his own set of ethics. This is the most watchable and enjoyable western I have seen in years. Based on an old 1957 film The Train of 3:10 the updated version has a great screen play which draws you into the characters and is not predictable.Rated R my 11 yr old boy an I had a great evening tucked up on the couch watching this. I think it will suit most tastes.

if you like old cowboys you will love this modern version more feeling than the original exellent film

Love The modern day western movie that is 3:10 to yuma, reminds me in many ways of Gun the playstation 2 game

Again, I've been forced to write this review...at gun point! ahahahah Is there an option to NOT write a review when you buy a dvd? I can't see any options. I'm doing this just to get rid of the little 'I can review 1 item that I won recently.' message. So here I am writing a review that nobody will read. I mean do people actually read e-bay reviews before buying a dvd?

Loved this film. Russell Crowe was excellent and Christian Bale (not my favourite actor) was his usual dour self, but perfect for the part. The shoot out at the end was a bit over the top - they must have been really bad shots in those days.... I would love to see more cowboy films being made.

I bought this two days ago and loved it.
Everything about this movie is excellent , all actors play the parts very well, great story line, tons of action scenes and a tearful ending.

A must for any western fan

In this remake of the classic movie with Glenn Ford, the acting is very good, the movie beautifully shot but the movie lacks the evident simplicity of the first film.

Great acting by all the cast, especially the two main ones, Mr Crow and Mr Bale.
Some reviewers think the ending is unbelievable, but you can see that mr Crow's character has a side to him that regrets his present life style. If they ever make a sequel, remember Mr Crow whistled for his horse... he could perhaps receive a letter from the boy that hints that the rancher's family are still having problems with the railroad bosses. This could prompt Mr Crow to escape before they hang him, and he returns to help them!!

Other reviewers gave this rave reviews - not sure I see why. It is far from rubbish and has lots to commend it, but it is all rather disappointing and unbeleivable in the final scene. Long film for such a 'Hollywood' ending.
Ho Hum, if you can get it cheap then watch it....

Nicely done western, but a big plot problem for me is why Rusell Crowes character actualy helps Christian Bales character to capture him and turn him in - seems very odd! Otherwise its a great film.

My husband is fanatic about westerns which prompted me to buy this particular dvd. I am not really a fan myself but after watching this film I would highly recommend it.

very fine quality, I look for dvd's that are not to expencive, and even though a good quality, and that is what I got.

I am a fan of westerns, and this one is one of the best releases of late.
The blu ray version contains superb graphics and sound further enhancing the watching pleasure. Highly recommended.
