24 - Series 5 - Complete (DVD)

Really good. Everything is to like about this series better and better. The last series are terrible compared to this!

This is the best series of 24. It's a rollercoaster ride from start to finish and I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of Jack's 24 hour adventure.

Everything about it is unbeatable and it is surely THE best series in ANY show. I saw it all in about a week. This is unquestionably brilliant and the writing, performances and directing - everything - is incredible.

The day starts off with a bang!!, straight into the fray. One of the most compelling drama's ive ever seen. I always thought that Season 2 would never be surpassed, well i was wrong!. Season five is packed with dramatic twists, shocks and tense moments. Keifer Sutherland won an Emmy for his part in this season and you can see why, he is just simply brilliant.

The great thing about 24 is the producers are never scared to take risks and visit touchy political areas, so you never really know what to expect, but i promise you with this season you will not be dissapointed, and without giving away any spoilers; you will be left wanting more and thats not a bad thing trust me!.

I felt slightly dissapointed by series 3 and 4, but this has got me hungry once again for 6. There is no point in me telling you any background infomation as I presume that most people reading this will have an idea what this show is all about, or like many people I would describe as "Die Hard" 24 fans. Watching this, the tension after every episode, the suspense is always there, from episodes 1-24, everyone is as nail biting as the rest.

i decided to buy this series as i missed it when it was screened on channel four this series is the best so far real exciting from start to finish for anyone who has never watched 24 they are missing out on one of the best series ever made

For me season 5 wasn’t the best however, at least the standard set by previous 24s hasn’t dropped. It was still and interesting plot and wasn’t short of action.

At parts however, it did seem to drag with scenes appearing to have the same theme: Jack is on the run – Jack gets arrested – Jack is released – Jack needs detaining again – jack’s detained – jack escapes! or; we have the recording – we’ve lost the recording – we’ve got back the recording – we’ve lost the recording. It’s integral to the story line but does get tedious.

As we have come to expect from 24, it’s not afraid to set boundaries and then break them. Season 5 is no different and shows this by seamlessly killing off some of the best loved characters to have appeared in 24. A show that is actually successful in killing off the heroes is a show you do not want to miss......................................................

As with all 24's to date this is good, but not the best.

That accolade falls to seasons 2 and 4. Having said that this series is full of the usual high tension and love to hate characters.

You know Jack will get even in the end but you need to know how. Just as everything appears lost, Jack saves the day and almost gets the girl.... But thats for another season.

truly a great series has the wow factor and keeps you glued to the screen. has to be watched..watched all of this series in one evening as i couldn't wait to see it all .my wife said i was mad and needed theriopy all that evening sitting there glued to the box . i couldn't switch it off and when i needed the bath room i didn't want to pause it for any longer than i needed to, i ran up the stairs and back down just to see it.

This was one of my favorite seasons and it was worth to wait to watch on DVD. I watched it in two days.

An excellent thrill ride. With every season the bodies seem to get more and more numerous and this season does seem to want to get rid of a few major characters once and for all. This does not make for a boring season though, as fast paced as ever, would definitely recommend this to anyone.

Personally I still think Season 3 is the best so far, but great entertainment nevertheless.

Yes, it echoes Season 2 pretty closely (I predicted quite a few plot developments simply on the basis that they'd happened in S2). Yes, it teeters on the edge of self-parody (frankly, 24 usually does: it's best when not taking itself too seriously). But the combination of high adrenaline and some excellent performances, both dramatic and in a couple of cases comic, is as strong as ever. The two Big Twists - which I saw coming but only from a couple of minutes ahead, so it hardly counts - are great ones.

Be warned, though: poor old Sean Astin is just going to have to accept that, whenever a character played by him does anything foolish, people will shout at the screen: "Stupid fat hobbit!" You'll find yourself doing that a lot while watching this.

Oh, and Kim's presence adds absolutely nothing except eye candy, and not much of that, given how unflatteringly they dress her. Find her something worthwhile to do, for God's sake! Make her evil or something!

One more thing: you probably know this if you've ever watched 24 on DVD before, but it's addictive to a degree that makes heroin look like orange juice. (Who, me, exaggerate?) Make sure you have time to watch a LOT at a sitting.

What can I say to those who haven't watched the series!! You won't see any better series than 24......unless you no different, then drop me a line. Once you start you can't stop watching, so I suggest, take the day off, switch off the phone, order food in and sit and vegitate in front of the box!!!

Since the very first season of 24 hit our screens the following series have not quite lived up to the expectations the orginal set. Then came season 5......

This is by far the greatest season of 24. Kiefer Sutherland has now settled comfortably in the role of Jack Bauer (and possibly the smoothest hero on tv), Mary Lynn Rajskub who plays Chloe has managed to transform her character from an annoyance to someone who will feel a close connection to. Mary Lynn Rajskub must be credited for the most moving scene in the entire series so far. If you have not seen it yet, it will move even the hardest men to tears.

However, the special credit and the sole reason why the season brings 24 to its utmost peak is Gregory Itzin as President Charles Logan. Whilst he seems to be a bungling idiot who should never come close to ruling one of the most powerful nations in the world, he plays the role which such confidence, passion and brilliance that he single handedly carried the season to its grand finale.

The season finishes on a its biggest cliffhanger to date, it is just a shame season 6 was such a major let down.

This is top notch!!! The acting just gets better and better. Instead of brings all of the characters in from the beginning they bring people in through out the entire series!! The bring in new and old characters. This is a MUST HAVE!!!!

24 Series 5 kicks off to an explosive start and it's by far the best series yet. The new US President Logan is not as nice as he first seems as Jack learns the truth behind President Palmer's assassination. Watch the first episode of this well acted and well scripted actioner and I guarantee that you will be hooked. It was this series that made me buy the other four, it's so addictive. WARNING..it will ruin your social life. It really makes you wonder just who can you trust. For Jack it's his trusty friend and co-worker Chloe O'Brian, who just happens to be very hot indeed. Go and buy this now..

From Tuesday of next week, I will not have a PC. However, I will purchase a new PC over the next couple of weeks and I am considering changing ISP to virgin from Tesco. On my 5th series now, so am an avid fan. Not as much violence as in previous series, which is a good thing for me, but others might find it a bit "sameish".
Sad that some of the original characters are now killed off, but new ones seem to be appearing. Kiefer could have my attention any day!
