I think whitesnake are absolutley brilliant, david coverdale is a great heavy rock singer, and writes great songs has well, i would recommend this cd to any whitesnake fans, i have been wanting it for ages, and i have finally found it on ebay, hope this helps you whitesnake fans.

"1987" was produced by a recording only line-up, which managed (barely) to record what would become one of the most successful albums of the 1980s. The band was initially completed by the arrival of new drummer Aynsley Dunbar, before the recording process began to slide into production hell, with producers coming and going, physical and psychological problems with David Coverdale’s voice, and even the dissolution of the band. John Sykes departed after one too many rows with the singer, and the finance to pay the band’s wages ran dry. One of the few smooth moments was Don Airey’s visit to lay down the keyboard parts for the album. By 1987 the album was completed. A new version of ‘Here I Go Again’ was recorded as a single with the help of Heart’s rhythm section, and a set of memorable promo videos (featuring the soon to be Mrs Coverdale - "actress" Tawny Kittaen) were completed using a set of musicians gathered together expressly for the task.

‘‘Whitesnake’ or ‘1987’ as it’s better known, quickly went multi-platinum after release, selling over 10 million copies, and lodging in the US top five for over a year. Four singles became US and UK hits, the Zeppelin styled ‘Still Of The Night’ won over a new generation of fans and became an instant classic. The touring band was assembled from the musicians brought in for the promo videos, and headlined worldwide on a massive scale.

John Sykes' involvement in co-writing many of the tracks with Mr C. was key to the album's success - Is this love is a classic! The largely American production was responsible for the change in sound and style that split many Whitesnake fans - those holding on to the early material and those who enjoyed the smoother style. Buy it - if you like his voice adn Sykes' amazing guitar, you wont be disappointed.

Good stuff, replaces what I had on cassette for years. Don't even have a cassette player now. I don't think I'll do this again [write a revue] I don't have the time or the inclination to count how many characters I'm using. I like to be brief and efficient in everything I do.

Whitesnake 1987 was once part of my music collection until a house burgalary; I'm slowly replenshing my cherished collection. I saw David coverdale at the Monsters of Rock, Sheffield Hallam Arena a couple of years ago. It was awesome!! Truly the best and loudest rock band i've seen that I could cheesily sing along to.. I was surprise that not after hearing the album for a while, I still knew the words. My husband isn't such a fan as myself and can't stand listening. When I saw a copy for sale on e-bay, I just had to buy it. When I recieved the cd, it went straight into my truck and travels with me, i give the volume some poke and put my foot down, it gives me the grin factor and its still as good now as it was in the eighties !! cool, i'm well impressed I got one of my favourites back. I particularly enjoy Still of The Night especially with the base turned up.
